Ya’ll been watching the Detroit Red Wings dominate lately? It’s a pretty site, that’s for sure. 2008 may very well end up being another title year for Hockeytown. Hats off to the Campbell Bowl winners (NHL Western Conference Champs) and best of luck in the Stanley Cup Finals starting this Saturday.
The Detroit Pistons unfortunately lost Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals last night to the Boston Celtics. I would say we played well, other than in the 3rd quarter. Hopefully we can steal a win in Game 2 and bring it back home tied up 1-1. Worst case scenario would be to lose Game 2 and have to desperately defend home court with a 2-game disadvantage. It’s O.K. though. We have a veteran ball club, they have been in positions like this before. Nothing to worry about. Gotta come out with some major intensity in Game 2.
Who likes metal? I sure do. Who wants to bring back some thrash metal with me? Let me know. RAWRR! FUCK YEA!
So the Michigan Vendors Association stopped by my office earlier today, and dropped off a HUGE complimentary box of candy. I’ve eaten 3 bags of Skittles and my stomach is hurting, but they are so fucking good! Thanks MVA!
I bet no one reads this, so FUCK YOU BITCHES!

Jameer Nelson? What did you say? Oh yeah, you guaranteed a game five victory. What happened? Oh yeah, your team lost that game, and the series. Actually, Detroit won that game. Without Chauncey Billups.
I think I picked it perfectly. Go up 2-0 at home, split the two away games, win game five. This may be the perfect situation for the Pistons, seeing that the Boston/Cleveland series could very well go seven games–which gives Billups ample time to recuperate.
My predictions are a Cleveland upset in game seven, thus putting home-court advantage in favor of the Pistons. New Orleans is going to finish off San Antonio either next game or in game seven. The Hornets are an exciting team to watch, I must say. L.A. should close out Utah, but you never know. Detroit vs Cleveland in the East. Los Angeles vs New Orleans in the West. Those are my picks.
On another note, the Detroit Red Wings can close out the Western Conference Finals tonight by sweeping the Dallas Stars. What is really cool about the game tonight is the Wings are going for their 10th consecutive win–a feat the franchise has yet to accomplish. They’ve won 9 games, then a loss. Won 9 games, then a tie, then won a few more. But never in the history of the Detroit Red Wings have they managed to win 10 consecutive games. Let’s hope this is the night!
GO WINGS! GO PISTONS! Tigers…get your fucking heads out of your asses and start playing like the championship team you really are. Lions…well, we won’t go there. Not yet, at least.

I feel like the ‘Stones are playing how they should be again. No more early round lolly-gagging. No more 4th quarter let-downs. No more Rasheed Wallace losing concentration. No more losing games they should win.
If you happened to catch game two last night versus the Magic, you’re probably as excited as I am about the NBA playoffs, and in particular, the ‘Stones making a run to the finals.
Chauncey Billups had an outstanding game, putting up 28 points, 5 boards, 4 assists, and 1 steal. Billups was a perfect 10-10 from the free-throw line, proving once again he is our leader and clutch player when it matters. If you saw the 3-pointer Billups made at the end of the 3rd quarter, yes, it probably didn’t count. But, Detroit won the game by 7 points, so take away that 3-pointer and they still win. Tough call for the refs. If you didn’t see it, this is what happened:
Billups officially made the shot with 0.5 seconds left in the third after the clock froze at 4.8 seconds.
The possession started with 5.1 seconds as Billups dribbled in the back-court and it appeared to take 5.2 seconds using replays the officials weren’t allowed to use during a delay lasting several minutes. The shot put Detroit ahead 78-76.
Regardless, big win for the ‘Stones, big game for Chauncey, and the momentum is in Detroit’s favor heading down to Orlando for game 3.
My predictions are a split in Orlando, with Detroit winning game 5 back at home, ending the series at 4-1. A series win here will effectively put the ‘Stones in the Eastern Conference Finals for a 6th consecutive year. (quite the feat)
Who would we want to play? Boston? Cleveland? That’s a tough one. Cleveland stomped us last year in the East Finals, mostly due to Lebron James’ domination, power, and competitiveness. Boston has the trifecta in dominant players — Ray Allen, Paul Pierce, and of course, Kevin Garnett. The only thing the Celtics lack is playoff experience in recent years, which became very evident when the 8th-seeded Atlanta Hawks took them to a game 7.
This is my question for you: who would you rather see the Detroit Pistons play in the East Finals? Boston or Cleveland?
